The Western Australian Government is investing $500,000 into the "Switch Your Thinking" initiative to help households and small businesses boost energy efficiency and reduce energy bills. This sustainability effort is a collaboration between the City of Armadale, the City of Gosnells, and the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.

WA’s $500k Power Play: Energizing Homes and Businesses

Empowering Communities with Energy Audits

A key part of the program is the rollout of 200 DIY energy audit toolkits, available for loan at local libraries. These kits will allow residents across 41 local government areas to assess their home energy use and develop personal energy-saving strategies.

Workshops and Resources for Energy Efficiency

The initiative also includes energy efficiency workshops planned for 2025, aimed at educating the community on reducing energy use and preparing for electrification.

Supporting Households and Small Businesses

WA Energy Minister Reece Whitby highlighted the importance of helping people understand their energy consumption. “This program will enable households to save on power bills and supports our path to net zero emissions by 2050,” he said.

Local Government Leadership in Sustainability

City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield praised the initiative, emphasizing its role in empowering residents. “Switch Your Thinking continues to deliver positive outcomes by putting energy control back in the hands of the people,” she said.
