$10.4M Boost for Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Queensland’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) industry is soaring with ARENA’s $10.4M investment in two groundbreaking projects:
🚀 Licella’s $26.1M Project Swift – Receives $8M to study a Bundaberg biorefinery, converting sugarcane residues into 60ML of low-carbon liquid fuels annually, including 40ML of SAF.
🚀 Viva Energy’s $4.9M SAF Infrastructure Project – Receives $2.4M to upgrade Pinkenba Terminal and enable SAF supply to Brisbane Airport.

Why It Matters
✈️ Decarbonizes aviation (2% of Australia’s emissions)🌱 Uses local biomass to produce renewable fuels🛫 Strengthens Australia’s fuel security💰 Part of ARENA’s $33.5M SAF initiative
Future of Clean Energy
The Federal Government’s ‘Future Made in Australia’ plan backs low-carbon fuels as a key sector, positioning Australia as a leader in SAF production.
