Powerlink has opened consultations for a proposed 55km, 275kV transmission line corridor to connect the Theodore Wind Farm to a new substation at Mount Benn, near Banana. The project, in collaboration with RWE Renewables Australia, is focused on optimizing landholder, environmental, and construction considerations.
Powerlink invites community feedback through sessions scheduled in November 2024:
14 November – Biloela Civic Centre, 3:30–6:30 pm
15 November – Theodore Memorial RSL Hall, 3:30–6:30 pm
16 November – Sutherland Hall, Banana, 10 am–2 pm
The final corridor will be determined based on further studies and feedback from landholders, Traditional Owners, and the community. Powerlink’s spokesperson emphasized that community involvement is crucial for planning a cost-effective, minimally impactful route that leverages Central Queensland’s renewable energy potential.
