State Government Backs Three Major Projects

New South Wales is ramping up long-duration energy storage (LDES) with three new projects under its Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap. These include:

🔋 125MW/1000MWh Stoney Creek Battery (Narrabri)

🔋 100MW/800MWh Griffith Battery (Yoogal)

🔋 800MW/11,990MWh ACEN Phoenix Pumped Hydro (Lake Burrendong)

Why It Matters

âš¡ Stores & releases renewable energy when needed

âš¡ Stabilizes electricity prices by reducing price spikes

âš¡ Powers 500,000+ homes for a day at full charge

âš¡ $3.5 billion investment & 900+ jobs

NSW’s Energy Future

The state has now secured 40% of its 2030 LDES target and 65% of the 2034 target. With more tenders opening in 2025, the government is pushing for a smoother transition to clean energy.
