Rachel Watson Officially Assumes CEO Role
Hydro Tasmania has officially welcomed Rachel Watson as its new Chief Executive Officer. Her appointment, originally announced in December 2024, follows the resignation of former CEO Ian Brooksbank in October 2024.

A Leader with Deep Renewable Energy Expertise
Ms Watson brings extensive experience to her new role, having previously served as Country Manager for OX2 Australia, where she oversaw the development of renewable energy projects nationwide. Her leadership also includes a successful tenure as CEO of Pacific Hydro Australia, where she helped drive the expansion of hydro, solar, and wind energy initiatives.
A Strong Advocate for Clean Energy
During her time as Chair of the Clean Energy Council, Ms Watson was a vocal advocate for Australia's transition to renewable energy. Her influence in the industry has been widely recognized, including her inclusion in The Australian’s list of 100 Green Power Players, highlighting her significant contributions to the clean energy sector.
Hydro Tasmania’s Vision for the Future
Hydro Tasmania expressed enthusiasm for Ms Watson's leadership, noting her comprehensive expertise across infrastructure, retail, finance, and legal sectors. The company also extended gratitude to Erin van Maanen, Executive General Manager of Strategy, who served as Acting CEO for the past six months during a particularly busy period for the business.
