The Federal Government has kicked off the third Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) tender, aiming for an impressive 4GW of four-hour equivalent dispatchable capacity or 16GWh in projects for the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Supporting Clean Energy and Storage Solutions
The CIS tender is designed to fast-track investment in renewable energy generation like wind and solar, as well as clean, dispatchable storage solutions such as advanced battery systems. Eligible projects must offer a minimum storage duration of two hours and meet a minimum capacity of 30MW.
Webinar Opportunity: Your Guide to Tender Requirements
To support potential participants, the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water will host a webinar on Monday, November 18. The session will cover the tender guidelines, emphasize the social license requirements, and provide a Q&A for project proponents.
Market Brief Offers Insights on CIS Allocations by Region
A new market brief is now available, detailing Renewable Energy Transformation Agreement (RETA) allocations by jurisdiction. This document provides clarity on the CIS allocations of both generation and dispatchable capacities across regions, helping proponents understand the allocation framework for CIS Tender 3.
