Woden Depot Opens Its Doors
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has marked a major leap forward in clean public transport with the official opening of the Woden electric bus depot—now the largest of its kind in the country. Though full-scale operations will begin at the end of April 2025, the depot is already being celebrated as a major win for sustainable mobility.

Driving Towards a Zero-Emissions Fleet
The ACT Government has its sights set on a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2040, and the Woden depot plays a central role in that plan. Designed with the future in mind, the facility is equipped with advanced technology and scalable infrastructure to support this green transition.
Inside the Nation’s Largest Electric Bus Hub
This cutting-edge depot includes:
Capacity for up to 100 electric buses
State-of-the-art electric charging systems
Infrastructure that can support future solar-powered charging
Comfortable amenities for approximately 250 Transport Canberra staff
12 fully equipped service bays and a modern workshop
A Boost for Bus Services
With the launch of this high-tech depot, ACT residents can expect quicker and more dependable bus services. A new timetable rolling out on Monday, 28 April 2025, will add 94 new bus services each weekday, making commuting more convenient and efficient across the Territory.
